Our Mission Statement:

The Endless Mountains Business Association as a united group is setting forth to enhance the business climate in the Blue Ridge area by communication, education and action. These efforts will ensure new families, tourist and business growth to this area. Aside from our location, Route 11-I 81 corridor, this area has land available for new business, a variety of antique/craft shops, lakes and camps for tourists and a "hometown" feeling for families. The goal is to strengthen the economy of this area while maintaining the unique "hometown" image.

Who We Are:

The Endless Mountains Business Association is a group of very diversified types of business. It is through our diversity in which we find our uniqueness of being a well rounded group with strengths in many realms. Many differing perspectives pose for an abundance of ideas and potential for growth and betterment for our businesses as well as our communities.

In June of 2006, our communities in Susquehanna County were devastated by flood waters. The Susquehanna River overflowed its banks directly at the Route 11- I 81 Corridor’s beginning in the Hallstead and Great Bend area. In addition, the Blue Ridge district area is full of mountain streams and creeks. These also overran their banks, tore through bridges, deposited trees and boulders and caused flooding in locations far from the river. Our residents showed their strength and courage in the long road back. Among all the devastation, many of our association’s members suffered severe flood damage. Complete businesses were destroyed. Some of them were never to recover, while others had good fortune and the desire to stay. It is this spirit of determination that lends itself to the definition of “who we are”.

What We Do:

The Endless Mountains Business Association meets every 4th Tuesday of each month. We have two locations and times which we alternate every other month. At these meetings we discuss and act upon a large variety of issues, ideas and concerns. These can pertain, in range, to only our association, our businesses, our school district, our local governments, and our communities in which all of our families and businesses reside.

As an example, the Endless Mountains Business Association sponsors a Festival of Trees each year at the Christmas Holidays. We take orders for trees from area businesses for their use to display outside their business location. The trees are decorated in any way they wish. Our only request is that white lights are used as a show of the spirit of unity among local business owners.

Also, in the year 2006, our association presented a scholarship award to a deserving student in the Blue Ridge High School. Our requirement was that this student have a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

Our Future:

Of course, it is our desire to grow in numbers and, with that comes strength. Our goal is to be a group of active participants working towards many common goals. Another is to combine all of our talents, resources and wonderful ideas into masterpiece completed projects. Our hope is to see our economy improve and progress forward. Our wish is to able and willing to make a positive difference, a strong influence, and by our actions, a contribution to our communities.

In the year 2007, we are hearing buzz words about the newly formed Susquehanna County Railroad Authority and how this will impact our local economy. We are also hearing about Lackawanna College putting down some roots in the neighborhood. There are some exciting things in the future ahead for EMBA and communities.
